Daikundi: Sources from Daikundi say that a former military officer was killed in “Alqan,” the center of the Shahristan district of the province.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, June 20, that the former military officer was named Yaser Behzad and was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding armed men.
The sources said that Yaser Behzad was attacked in the evening of the previous day while he was closing his shop.
According to the sources, Yaser Behzad owned a bakery, had previously traveled to Tajikistan, and after returning to Afghanistan had been engaged in ordinary work.
The sources added that after being hit by two bullets in the arm and eye, Yaser Behzad died in the hospital.
According to the sources, Yaser Behzad had also been detained by the Taliban last year.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, dozens of cases of detention, torture, and extrajudicial killings of former security personnel have been reported across the country.
