Pakistani media have reported that six members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Constabulary were killed and four others injured in an attack by “terrorists” who attempted to seize a border post in Peshawar.

The Dawn newspaper reported on Tuesday, June 9, citing military sources, that the personnel of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border forces were killed in the Hassan Khel of Peshawar.

According to the report, the “terrorists,” who were not identified by Dawn sources as belonging to any specific group, attacked a border post.

The report added that eight “terrorists” were also killed in a retaliatory operation by Pakistani security forces, and their attempt to seize the border post was foiled.

Sources added that three members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Frontier Constabulary were also taken hostage by “terrorists.”

Security forces have reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the area, according to the report.

It also stated that Pakistan witnessed six suicide attacks in May, including four vehicle-borne suicide bombings, which resulted in the deaths of 34 security personnel and nine civilians.

Pakistan designates the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as a terrorist organization, but the report does not specify whether the attackers of the border checkpoint in Peshawar were affiliated with the group.
