Pakistani security sources told the media that at least one person was killed and 12 others were injured in a suicide attack in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A police official told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday, May 5, that the suicide attacker attempted on Monday evening to detonate an explosives-laden vehicle at a military checkpoint near Azam Warsak Bazaar.
According to the police official, the suicide attacker was identified by security forces before reaching the military checkpoint, and the explosion occurred at a distance from the post.
As per reports, the explosion damaged nearby buildings, and the victims were taken to the hospital.
In recent days, suicide attacks have increased in Pakistan’s border regions with Afghanistan.
Islamabad says the attacks are linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which it claims is based in Afghanistan, but the Taliban deny these allegations.
