The Taliban-run National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) has claimed that over two million electronic ID cards were distributed across Afghanistan last year.

On Monday, March 30, the authority stated that this total includes 1,529,244 ID cards for men and 498,835 ID cards for women.

The highest number of electronic ID cards issued in 1404 (Solar Hijri Year) was in Kabul province.

In Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, and Balkh provinces, the largest numbers of ID cards were also distributed, respectively.

According to the Taliban, since the start of the electronic ID card distribution process, more than 17,487,000 electronic ID cards have been issued.
