Kabul – The interim government of the Taliban has rejected the news of the forced eviction of residents of Qush Tepa district of Jowzjan province.
The rumors about the forced banishment of Jowzjan residents are not true, tweeted Inamullah Samangani, Taliban spokesman on Monday, November 29.
“There has been no forced eviction in the Turkmen village of Qudooq in Qush Tepa district and that no decision has been taken against anyone, Inamullah quoted Sirajuddin Ahmadi, the Taliban’s police commander for Jowzjan province.
According to him, there is a conflict between two tribes and a delegation is to be set up to resolve it.
Meanwhile, a number of residents of the Qush Tepa district of Jowzjan have recently said that they have been forced to move.
They claim their homes and thousands of acres of land have been confiscated by Kochis, and that local Taliban officials have detained protesters.
This is not the first time that the news of forced eviction of residents of the province has been raised.
Earlier, residents of Kandahar and Daikundi provinces claimed that the Taliban had forced them to leave their homes.
