U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that he is destroying Iran’s currency and economy.
Al Jazeera reported early Sunday, August 2, that Trump made the remarks on his personal social media platform, Truth Social.
According to the report, Trump claimed that Iran is experiencing “massive inflation.”
Trump shared a chart that appeared to show the weakening of Iran’s currency and wrote: “I am destroying Iran’s money.”
The remarks come as tensions between Iran and the United States have increased in recent months over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
However, tensions between Washington and Tehran do not appear likely to end soon, and the process of reviving negotiations remains uncertain.
