The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported that two explosions were heard as an oil tanker was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Al Jazeera reported early Thursday, August 6, that the explosions were heard in the Kumzar area near Oman’s coast.
According to the report, UKMTO said the captain of an oil tanker reported hearing two explosions while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The report said the explosions caused no damage to the tanker or its crew.
This comes as reports indicate that Oman and Iran have finalized an agreement to establish a safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iran has described the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, which passes along Oman’s coast, as illegal and said it does not recognize it.
