The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced that Kabul’s urban area has expanded significantly over the past several decades.
In a message issued on Tuesday, October 27, ahead of World Cities Day, the agency said the city’s expansion has increased the need for better urban planning and investment.
UN-Habitat added that, with sufficient support, Kabul could become a prosperous and thriving city for millions of people.
World Cities Day is observed annually on October 31 to raise awareness about sustainable urban development and the challenges of urbanization.
