The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has emphasized the need for global efforts to keep food prices affordable and prevent the spread of hunger.
According to the organization, FAO Chief Economist Maximo Torero spoke on Saturday, August 22, on the “Awake at Night” program about global food security challenges and ways to combat hunger.
He discussed how to address food price shocks and the need for investment in sustainable nutrition.
According to the FAO, Torero also warned about the state of hunger around the world and stressed the importance of strengthening food systems to ensure people have access to sufficient, nutritious and affordable food.
This comes as hunger continues to threaten millions of people worldwide, with conflict, climate change and rising food prices among its main causes.
