The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said that, with the support of the Gates Foundation, it is working to raise public awareness, strengthen community engagement, and support the provision of polio vaccines for all children.

The organization wrote on its X page on Wednesday, July 29, that receiving two drops of the polio vaccine protects children against permanent paralysis caused by the disease.

UNICEF added that poliomyelitis (polio) has no cure, but infection can be prevented through vaccination.

According to the organization, the objective of these efforts is to ensure that all children have access to the polio vaccine and are protected against the disease.

The organization Polio Free Afghanistan had previously stated that the polio vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect children against the disease and urged families to vaccinate their children.
