Tajudeen Oyewale, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Afghanistan, says that mothers’ access to “trusted counseling and support” on breastfeeding provides the foundation for a healthy start in children’s lives.
Oyewale wrote on X on Tuesday, August 4, that every mother wants the best for her child, and that by receiving the necessary support for breastfeeding, women are better able to provide the healthiest possible start for their newborns.
The UNICEF representative in Afghanistan emphasized that the organization remains committed to supporting programs aimed at ensuring every child has a healthy start.
The remarks coincide with World Breastfeeding Week, an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, its benefits for children’s health, and the need to support breastfeeding mothers.
