CENTCOM

The United States Central Command United States Central Command says it has shot down multiple Iranian attack drones in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on X on Saturday, June 13, CENTCOM said the drones were launched with the intent to target commercial vessels passing through the strategic waterway.

The command said all of the drones were intercepted and destroyed by US forces over the past several hours.

CENTCOM did not specify the exact number of drones involved.

It added that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to international shipping traffic and continues to function as a key global trade route.

Tensions in the region have increased in recent days, with both US and Iranian forces accusing each other of violating ceasefire understandings in the area.

This comes amid recent reports that Washington and Tehran are moving closer to finalizing a potential agreement following ongoing negotiations between the two sides.
