The US Department of State has announced a $15 million reward for information that helps disrupt the financial mechanisms of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Tammy Pigott, a spokesperson for the US Department of State, said on Wednesday, September 30, that Washington is continuing efforts to disrupt Iran’s financial and weapons networks while increasing economic pressure on the Iranian government.
She added that the United States has sanctioned eight additional entities and five individuals for what it described as their roles in procuring and expanding weapons or weapons components for Iran.
According to Pigott, the United States had previously offered multi-million-dollar rewards for information about activities linked to Iran.
The US Department of State spokesperson said the country, in cooperation with its partners, would seek to disrupt Iran’s weapons proliferation networks and restrict the Iranian government’s access to goods, technology, financial resources and services used in these activities.
