The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that women in Afghanistan are witnessing the deaths of their children due to malnutrition.
John Aylieff, head of the World Food Programme office in Afghanistan, said on Tuesday, November 11, that many families have been deprived of humanitarian aid.
Aylieff emphasized that now is not the time to reduce assistance, and with the arrival of winter, support must be increased to fulfill the promise of solidarity with the people of Afghanistan.
The World Food Programme also announced yesterday that the level of malnutrition in Afghanistan, particularly among women and children, is increasing at an alarming rate.
The organization warned that with the arrival of winter, the level of insufficient nutrition in the country is likely to increase significantly.
This comes as, following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, several international organizations have announced that they have reduced their aid in Afghanistan due to the ban on female employees working.
