The World Health Organization (WHO) says that 16.6 million children in Afghanistan have received the measles vaccine.
The organization said in a statement on Monday, April 6, that the vaccines were administered in two phases.
The statement said: “Through two rounds of the nationwide measles campaign in Afghanistan, more than 16.6 million children have been protected against this deadly but preventable disease.”
WHO emphasized that since 1974, more than 150 million people worldwide have been saved through vaccination.
The World Health Organization also stressed that health decisions should be guided by science.
This comes as the Taliban raided the Herat maternity hospital yesterday and banned the use of contraceptive pills for women.
