World Vision International has announced that Afghanistan is the fourth country in the world in terms of acute child malnutrition.

The organization wrote on the social media platform X on Monday, November 10, 2025, that 3.7 million children under the age of five in Afghanistan are suffering from acute malnutrition.

According to the organization, one million children in Afghanistan are severely malnourished.

The organization added that 1.2 million pregnant and lactating women are also facing acute malnutrition.

World Vision International stated that budget shortages and access restrictions have caused the closure of 305 nutrition centers in Afghanistan.

The organization said, “Hungry and malnourished children cannot wait.”

The organization warned that the available budget is only capable of meeting 30 percent of the essential needs to combat malnutrition in Afghanistan.

World Vision International had also warned some time ago that the reduction in humanitarian aid in Afghanistan has placed thousands of families in a critical situation and trapped children between hunger and hard labor.
