Kabul – The ambassador of Pakistan in Kabul Mansoor Ahmad Khan told Pakistani media that if the peace talks between the government and the Pakistani Taliban failed, the Afghan Taliban would take military action against them.

After the peace negotiations, the Pakistani government has agreed to a one-month ceasefire with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to the Express Tribune.

The report states that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting minister of Interior Affairs of the Taliban caretaker government has acted as a mediator between the Pakistani government and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.

“I cannot confirm or deny the reports of talks between Pakistan and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan,” Mansoor Ahmad Khan said.

The engagement with the Tehrik-i-Taliban should take place within the framework of counter-terrorism efforts and strategies agreed upon by both sides, the Pakistani ambassador said.

The Taliban caretaker government has assured us that it will not allow any group to use Afghan territory against Pakistan, Mansoor Ahmad Khan added.

Earlier, there were reports of talks between the Pakistani government and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan mediating between the Taliban caretaker government in Afghanistan.
