The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced that it will not participate in the upcoming Twenty20 Tri-Nation Series with Pakistan, citing Pakistan’s attack on Afghan players in Argun. The tournament was scheduled to take place in late November.
In a statement released on Friday night, October 17, the ACB said that three Afghan cricketers, Kabir, Sibghatullah, and Haroon, along with five other individuals, were killed, while seven others were injured in the incident.
The players had earlier traveled to Sharan, the capital of Paktika Province, to participate in a friendly match. They were attacked upon their return to Argun during a local gathering.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board described the attack as a major loss for the country’s sports community and expressed its deepest condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Paktika province.
