Canada, the United Kingdom, and several other countries have condemned the killing of United Nations peacekeepers during clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon and called for an immediate end to the fighting.
In a joint statement released on Tuesday, April 14, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian situation and the growing wave of displacement in Lebanon.
The statement came after three United Nations peacekeepers were killed last month.
The incident occurred during clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Preliminary investigations by the United Nations suggest that the incident may have been caused by fire from an Israeli tank as well as the explosion of an improvised explosive device attributed to Hezbollah.
