Asif Durrani, the former Special Representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan, has warned that the Taliban, by continuing to provide shelter to terrorist groups, are increasing the risk of a situation similar to what existed before the September 11 attacks.
On Saturday, July 4, Durrani wrote on his X account that the Taliban have limited international legitimacy and that, if they continue supporting groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), and the Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISKP), regional security will be threatened.
He also claimed that India is financially supporting the TTP and the BLA, and that the Taliban regime is providing safe havens for these groups.
The former Pakistani special envoy warned that if these policies continue, both the Taliban and India’s leadership in New Delhi could face serious risks.
Durrani added that past experiences have shown that supporting armed groups ultimately backfires on their sponsors and threatens their own security.
