The European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid department has announced that educational support for children in Afghanistan can change their lives and help create the conditions for a better future.
The agency said in a video published on Sunday, September 13, that millions of children around the world are returning to school this week, but access to education for many children in Afghanistan continues to face serious barriers.
The European Union said millions of children in Afghanistan are deprived of education, and about half of school-age children currently do not have access to education.
According to the agency, among children deprived of education, around one million have been prevented from attending school because of the ban on girls’ education.
The agency added that for many children in Afghanistan, attending school is not possible because of long distances, difficult roads, and adverse weather conditions.
The European Union said it provides financial support to establish educational classes in these areas to ensure that girls and boys have equitable access to education.
