The female students have been unable to attend school for more than a year and a half. Now, the university gates are closed to the girls, too. As an Afghan girl, I want the Taliban to first accept and treat us like human beings and then consider their orders based on religion. I am a human being first before I am a woman. So, as a human being, I have the right to study, work, and take part in social affairs. I also have the right to live, breathe, cry, laugh, and put on colorful clothing like men.
On the contrary, this is not the case in Afghanistan today. Afghan women are deprived of their rights to study, work, and participate in society just because they’re women. The Taliban oppress women the moment they want to raise their voices. The oppression of women by the Taliban group is intensified. Even though Afghan hero women still raise their voices and chant slogans for their fundamental rights, no one pays any attention to their sorrowful voices. Amid all the chaos and tragedy, Afghan women still continue their path and do not give up on demanding their rights.
Women in Afghanistan face an unknown destiny. They do not know what the future is holding. Afghan women live in a hard situation that prohibits their right to study and work. Moreover, society has turned into a prison for them. They are just alive but not living at all. Breathing is not just enough for living.
Despite all of them, Afghan women endeavor to study, work, be passionate, and make their dreams become true. However, there is no hope left for the girls to attend the educational center, go to universities, and work in organizations. The recent ban order by the Taliban stole every hope and dream that the Afghan girls were thinking of. Afghan girls are struggling to gain their rights, and a minority of the male also made the effort to support female students to defend their rights when they chant slogans like “Everyone or No one”.
I think a society that cannot provide equal rights to everyone is a burnt and dead society. It is education and equal rights that bring prosperity to society. Hence, let’s stand up together and chant the slogan “Everyone or No one” for the refinement and development of Afghanistan!
