Local sources in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province, are reporting an explosion that took place in the region.
According to these sources, the explosion took place at approximately 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 24th, in the vicinity of the Balkh Province prison located in the first district of Mazar-e-Sharif.
Details regarding the target and any casualties resulting from this incident remain unclear at this time.
However, Mohammad Asef Waziri, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Balkh, has stated that the explosion was caused by a homemade bomb that was detonated in front of the Mazar-e-Sharif Municipality. Fortunately, this explosion did not result in any casualties.
Waziri further added that Taliban investigative units have already arrived at the scene, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
The most recent explosion in Balkh Province occurred on September 20th when journalists had gathered at the Tebian Cultural and Social Center.
