Local sources have reported that a former soldier, who had been detained by the Taliban on charges of collaborating with ISIS, has killed two Taliban fighters and injured three others in the province.
According to sources, on Thursday, June 22, it was revealed that the soldier had been a former commander of a police checkpoint under the previous government and was recently arrested by the Taliban.
The incident occurred yesterday at the Taliban security command in Helmand when the former commander forcefully seized a weapon from a Taliban fighter and opened fire.
Sources have not provided details regarding the identity of the perpetrator or his whereabouts after the incident.
It is worth mentioning that since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the group has consistently detained former government soldiers on various pretexts and carried out their killings.
In the latest case, the group has detained three former soldiers from the village of Piawesht in the Rokhah district of Panjshir province.
