Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, is expected to lead the Iranian delegation to Switzerland for the signing of a peace agreement between Iran and the United States.
Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday, June 16, that this was stated by Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister.
According to the report, Iran–US negotiations will begin after the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland.
Takht-Ravanchi said the Iranian team will be led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the US delegation will be led by JD Vance, Vice President of the United States.
“Switzerland will be the venue for the signing, but the exact location has not yet been determined. The next round of negotiations will begin immediately after the signing,” he said.
Iran and the United States have recently held talks mediated by Pakistan, reaching an agreement to end the conflict.
