The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights says two men, including an Afghan national, have been executed in Iran after being convicted over their alleged involvement in protests held during the winter of last year.
Hengaw reported on Sunday, July 19, that Erfan Esfandiyari and Gol Mohammad Mohammadi, Afghan citizen, were executed at dawn in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
According to the organization, the executions of the two defendants in the case known as the “Ali Khani Square of Malek Shahr” case were carried out in secret.
Hengaw warned that the lives of 10 other defendants in the same case are at imminent risk of execution.
The report comes as Iran has increased the number of executions of detained protesters following the crackdown on last winter’s protests and after Israeli and U.S. attacks on the country.
