Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya, has called on countries in the region to reconsider their “cooperation and alignment” with the United States.
Al Jazeera reported on Saturday, August 1, that Abdollahi said the United States is seeking to use the wealth, infrastructure, and resources of countries in the region as a “defensive shield for its weakened military.”
He also warned that Washington’s actions against Tehran are increasing the risk of triggering a broader regional conflict.
Abdollahi added that any country acting as a “defensive shield” for the United States would be consumed by the flames of war if a conflict breaks out.
The remarks come as tensions between Iran and the United States continue, with officials from both countries repeatedly warning in recent months about the security and regional consequences of each other’s actions.
