Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday, September 1, that the meeting took place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Meanwhile, a Telegram channel belonging to Abbas Araghchi said that during his meeting with the Chinese foreign minister and other foreign ministers attending the SCO summit, the Islamabad understanding, the Strait of Hormuz, and tensions between Iran and the United States were among the key issues discussed.
This comes as the United States has threatened to impose new sanctions on Iran and called on governments around the world to join the campaign.
However, Beijing has supported a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, stressing that US sanctions will not resolve the six-month-long conflict.
