Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a security delegation will soon travel to Riyadh for talks with Saudi officials.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 5, the ministry said the delegation would be dispatched to Riyadh in the near future.
The ministry did not provide further details about the timing of the visit or the agenda of the talks.
The announcement follows a meeting in Amman between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
The visit comes as Iraq and Saudi Arabia seek to manage the consequences of recent security tensions following attacks on Saudi oil facilities and Riyadh’s military response in recent weeks.
