Abdul Rahman Munir, Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics at the Taliban Ministry of Interior, has held talks with Aziz Toshpoʻlatov, the Interior Minister of Uzbekistan, on strengthening cooperation in the fight against drugs.
Bakhtar News Agency, which is under Taliban control, reported on Wednesday, April 22, that both sides emphasized joint coordination to combat drug trafficking during the meeting.
According to the report, Abdul Rahman Munir and Aziz Toshpoʻlatov expressed confidence in continued cooperation in the field of counter-narcotics.
The two sides also agreed to establish a joint technical team to prevent drug trafficking across the Afghanistan–Uzbekistan border.
This comes as the United Nations had previously warned that high-risk drug use in Afghanistan, particularly among women and children, is on the rise.
