The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) says that 3.2 million people in Iran have fled their homes following Israeli and US airstrikes.
Jan Egeland, secretary general of the Norwegian Refugee Council, wrote on X on Saturday, May 30, that the organization is working to assist both Iranians affected by the war and Afghan migrants in the country.
He warned that the NRC’s funding for humanitarian assistance is severely limited.
Egeland added that Iran hosts more than four million Afghan refugees.
The NRC secretary general also said that without renewed coordinated efforts, the consequences of the war will continue to affect families in the region for years to come.
The Norwegian Refugee Council had previously warned about the condition of Afghan migrants in Iran who have been affected by the recent conflict in the country.
