The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that 84,000 people have been affected by widespread and deadly floods in Nepal and are in urgent need of assistance.
The organization reported on Friday, September 4, that the United Nations and its partners have appealed for nearly $50 million to assist the worst-affected areas of Nepal.
The assistance will include cash, food, shelter, clean water, healthcare services and other life-saving aid.
According to the report, around 19,284 families in Nepal have been affected by the disaster.
OCHA said assessments are still underway to determine the full extent of the damage and the needs of affected people.
