The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned what it described as “heinous” drone attacks by the Houthis on the holy city of Mecca and the Medina region.
Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, September 16, that the OIC described the Houthi attacks on Mecca and Medina as a “violation of the sanctity of holy sites and mosques.”
According to the report, the OIC said the attacks were intended to “spread fear and panic among civilians and provoke the feelings of Muslims around the world.”
The organization also said that attacks on “holy sites, mosques and civilian targets constitute terrorism and are contrary to Islamic values and international norms and laws.”
Meanwhile, early Wednesday, the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone in southern Mecca.
