Pakistan holds the Taliban responsible for the border conflicts.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif said in a statement on Twitter on Monday (December 12th) that the Taliban fired on civilians in Spin Boldak. He strongly condemned the skirmish, calling it unfortunate.
Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, on Sunday night (December 11th), also condemned the incident where, according to him, 6 Pakistani nationals were killed and 17 were wounded after [Taliban] Border Forces resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing onto the Civilian population in Chaman.
“The Taliban have been informed that recurrence of such incidents must be avoided and strictest possible action must be taken against those responsible,” Pakistan’s special envoy to Afghanistan stated.
Based on the latest information from local sources, at least 10 people were killed and 50 others were injured in two separate clashes between the Taliban and the Pakistani military at the entrance of Spin Boldak border crossing in Kandahar yesterday.
