Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, has held talks with European Union officials on the political and security situation in the region and the activities of terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
Sadiq wrote on his X page on June 1, 2026, that the meeting was held with Erik Kurzweil, Executive Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service, and Gilles Bertrand, the European Union’s Special Representative for Afghanistan.
He added that the meeting included discussions and exchanges of views on the political and security outlook of the region.
Sadiq said the talks focused on terrorism and related threats, including the activities of groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which he said operate from Afghan territory.
Muhammad Sadiq also added that the sides emphasized the importance of engagement and joint coordination in response to these threats.
This comes as Pakistan has repeatedly claimed that terrorist groups, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), are operating from Afghan soil against the country, while the Taliban have consistently rejected these claims.
