A new polio vaccination campaign is being launched in Paktika Province as part of ongoing efforts to eradicate the disease in Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan Polio-Free Initiative announced on Sunday, October 26, that the campaign will begin on Monday across all districts of Paktika, urging families to ensure their children receive the vaccine.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), two positive cases of poliovirus have so far been detected in the provinces of Badghis and Helmand.

The campaign, aimed at protecting children’s health and preventing the further spread of polio in Afghanistan, had previously been implemented in the country’s eastern provinces.
