The Polio-Free Afghanistan initiative has announced that a new polio vaccination campaign will begin tomorrow across 17 provinces.

In a statement issued on Sunday, 23 November, the organization said the campaign will launch in Kabul, Balkh, Kunduz, Herat, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Zabul, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Helmand, and Farah.

The Polio-Free Afghanistan initiative did not specify how many children would be vaccinated during this round.

According to the World Health Organization, two positive cases of polio have been recorded in Afghanistan so far this year.

These cases were confirmed in Badghis and Helmand provinces.

Polio vaccination campaigns have been conducted several times this year across various provinces.
