Several residents of Herat province have complained about repeated power outages of electricity imported from Turkmenistan during the winter season, saying the problem has created serious challenges for their daily lives.
Local sources told Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, December 20, that the issue of power cuts, particularly during winter, has existed for years, but has so far not received serious attention.
According to the sources, this year’s severe winter cold, combined with a large wave of returning migrants, has further worsened people’s living conditions, leaving many families facing shortages of heating facilities.
Herat residents say that low-income families are the most affected by the situation.
The sources add that, on the one hand, fuel prices are high, and on the other, the lack of electricity has deprived residents of the ability to use electric heating appliances.
They are calling on the Taliban to take fundamental measures to prevent the recurrence of this problem and to ensure a stable electricity supply for the residents of Herat during the winter season.
