Richard Bennett, the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan, says the Taliban have deprived millions of girls and women of education.
In a post on X on Saturday, January 24, Bennett wrote that this deprivation not only affects their lives but also undermines the future of the country.
He stressed that all young people must be able to access quality education and higher learning.
Each year, January 24 is observed as World Education Day.
Since seizing power in Afghanistan, the Taliban have barred girls from schools and universities.
