Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, is scheduled to travel to Tehran tomorrow for talks and meetings with Iranian officials.
Tasnim News Agency reported on Sunday, August 23, that the announcement was made by Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
According to the report, Baqaei said that Munir will travel to Iran at the head of a high-level official delegation.
Baqaei said the purpose of Munir’s visit to Tehran is to hold consultations with Iranian officials to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
This comes as Pakistan has made significant efforts in recent months to facilitate dialogue and negotiations between Iran and the United States.
However, it remains unclear whether the ongoing diplomatic efforts will ease tensions between the two sides and revive negotiations.
