The Afghanistan Institute for Strategic Studies hosted an event titled “Rumi Night” at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., drawing an audience of more than 400 people.

On Monday evening, September 29, Dawood Moradian, director of the institute, introduced the book “From Kabul to Queens: The Jews of Afghanistan and Their Migration to the United States” by Sarah Y. Aharon.

The program also featured Ruben Shimonov, who spoke about cultural connections in Arabic and Persian calligraphy, and Hershel Hepler from the Museum of the Bible, who presented on the history of Afghanistan’s religious choirs.

The evening concluded with a performance by the Yuval Ensemble, which played traditional and mystical Afghan music to enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Organizers emphasized that the event provided an opportunity to revisit Rumi’s teachings on peace, coexistence, and respect for diverse beliefs.
