Sources say that the Taliban killed a resident of Shahri Buzurg district in Badakhshan province in exchange for $300,000.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, April 2, that the deceased man was named Ahmad and was killed by fighters of the Taliban’s Border Brigade in the Shahri Buzurg.
According to sources, the Taliban had arrested him from his home in the village of Rimant.
Sources add that previously, one of his sons had also been killed during a land dispute.
According to sources, Ahmad was killed in retaliation by a mafia gang, some members of which had previously been killed along the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border.
Sources emphasize that the relatives of this mafia gang held Ahmad responsible for the deaths of their kin in Tajikistan and paid the commanders of the Taliban’s Border Brigade to have him killed.
A video obtained by the Hasht-e Subh Daily also shows a man confessing that he arrested Ahmad from his home and killed him.
Sources say that the Taliban had buried Ahmad’s body in a valley, but it was exposed due to rainfall.
Meanwhile, in the nearly five years since the Taliban regained control, armed killings, violence, and acts of revenge have increased in Afghanistan, raising concerns about security and stability in various parts of the country.
The Taliban have consistently claimed that nationwide security has been ensured, but citizens continue to complain about insecurity and the involvement of Taliban fighters in these incidents.
