Sources: Taliban Still Unable to Find People Missing in Helmand Deserts

Sources in Helmand say that a number of people, including women and children, have been missing in the deserts of the province since yesterday, but the Taliban have so far failed to find them.

The sources told The Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, August 23, that the people went missing on Saturday morning in the desert of Bahramcha district in Helmand province.

According to the information, the Taliban have been searching for them since yesterday and also sent a helicopter this morning, but no information about the missing people has yet been obtained.

Sources said the Taliban’s head of Information and Culture in Helmand has also acknowledged that they have been searching for the missing people in the deserts of Bahramcha district since yesterday, but the search operation has so far been unsuccessful.

This comes weeks after 19 people who were attempting to migrate to Iran died after going missing in the deserts of Nimroz province. Their bodies were found after days of searching.
