Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban Supreme Leader, has approved the “Preachers Law” and stated that preachers must be Muslim and follow the Hanafi school of thought.
The Taliban Ministry of Justice published the group’s “Preachers Law” on Tuesday, April 28, consisting of two chapters and 17 articles.
The Taliban Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has been designated as the authority responsible for implementing this “law.”
The “law” states that preachers must conduct their preaching through speech and media such as radio, magazines, and books, which do not contain images of living beings.
Articles 6 and 10 emphasize that a preacher must follow the Hanafi school of thought.
Previously, human rights organizations had stated that the Taliban, through their “Criminal Code for Courts,” violated human rights and contributed to the repression of ethnic and religious minorities.
