The Taliban have accused the residents of Behsud district in Maidan Wardak province of cooperating with Alipur, the former local commander, and have launched a large-scale attack on this district.
In an interview, local sources said that the Taliban fighters have been present in Behsud district for the past three days.
The Taliban have accused the local residents of concealing the weapons of commander Alipur in their houses. The claim however has been rejected by the residents.
The Taliban have so far killed one civilian, injured 11 others, and set on fire 15 residences, sources said.
Due to the violence of the Taliban, dozens of families have reportedly fled to the mountains. The residents said that if the situation is not addressed, it is possible that the fleeing people will die due to exposure to cold weather.
The sources meanwhile added that the Taliban have also cut off the telecommunications and internet services in this area.
More details however are not available on the situation of the area.
