The Taliban embassy in Tehran has said that 408 Afghan prisoners have been transferred from Iran to Afghanistan.
The Taliban embassy in Tehran wrote on X on Thursday, June 11, that these prisoners were transferred to Afghanistan after their identities were verified.
It added that the prisoners were transferred in the first phase of the 11th round of the prisoner transfer committee to Afghanistan.
According to the embassy, these Afghan citizens had been sentenced to prison in Iran.
Afghan prisoners in Iran have also been transferred to Afghanistan in previous instances.
There is no precise information on the number of Afghan citizens currently imprisoned in Iran.
However, it is believed that hundreds of Afghan nationals are serving prison sentences in Iran on various charges.
