The Taliban announced that over the past 24 hours, six people have died and seven others have been injured due to rainfall, lightning, and flash floods in 20 provinces of Afghanistan.
The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency reported on Wednesday, April 1, that these incidents occurred in the provinces of Kabul, Kapisa, Parwan, Panjshir, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghor, Badghis, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Faryab, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kunar, and Laghman.
Hafiz Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, head of Information and Publications and spokesperson for the Taliban’s Disaster Management Authority, stated that 139 houses were destroyed and 394 houses were partially damaged in these provinces.
He had previously reported that a significant number of people had been injured or killed due to flash floods and heavy rainfall in several provinces of the country.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) stated that Afghanistan continues to face various risks from natural disasters.
