Kabul – Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said that terrorist threats and drugs haven’t declined from Afghanistan since the Taliban took control which is a challenge to Russia.
According to Tass news agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a news conference on Wednesday, (November 3) that the terrorist threats and drugs are a major challenge to Russia.
“Terrorist threats, drugs, and also the general situation of Afghanistan is a serious problem to us,” she added.
Zakharova said, “Unfortunately, the situation hasn’t also changed since the Taliban seized control in Afghanistan.”
Maria reminded the Islamic State of Khurasan Province (ISKP) group attacks on Kunduz, Kandahar, and Kabul cities as examples.
Moreover, the representatives of terrorist organizations, criminal elements, militants, and so on may infiltrate neighboring countries under the guise of asylum seekers, Zakharova stated.
Furthermore, Zakharova cited US efforts to establish military bases in Afghanistan’s neighboring countries as a factor in regional instability, adding that such actions would pose a serious threat to regional stability.
The remarks by Russian officials on the rise of terrorist threats from Afghanistan come as the ISKP group has increased attacks on civilians in Kunduz, Kandahar, and Kabul in the past two months.
The latest attack which was carried out on Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan Hospital by the ISKP group killed 19 and injured 50 others.
