U.S. President Donald Trump has said that he plans to visit Turkey later this year and will also return to China.
Speaking on Friday, June 19, at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump said his foreign travel schedule is expected to expand during the year.
“We are making many trips. We will go to Turkey, and at some point, this year I will return to China,” he said.
Trump made the remarks during an event unveiling a Boeing 747 aircraft that was reportedly donated by Qatar and added to the presidential Air Force One fleet.
The U.S. president also said that Xi Jinping is expected to visit the United States in September. He added that he would later travel to China to attend a major meeting.
The comments come as Washington seeks to maintain diplomatic engagement with key international partners amid ongoing geopolitical and economic challenges.
