British Prime Minister Andy Burnham is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in New York next week.
Reuters reported early Wednesday, September 16, that this will be Burnham’s first meeting with Trump since becoming British prime minister.
The meeting is expected to take place in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting comes amid tensions in Trump’s relations with his European allies over the United States’ war with Iran.
During the conflict with Iran, the U.S. president has repeatedly criticized European NATO members, particularly Britain, France and Germany, accusing them of failing to cooperate with the United States.
